| Resumo: | The aim of the present study was to estimate the geographical position and individual height of trees on eucalyptus plantations. The data were obtained using airborne laser scanning (ALS), which enabled generating a standardized digital vegetation model (SDVM) of surface biomass. Geoprocessing was applied to this model, which enabled analyzing the biomass model and determining the peak of each tree and its height. Orthophotos with high spatial resolution were used to validate the results, obtaining an average precision of 93% in the calculations. In the comparison of the average height data of the 100 tallest trees estimated using LIDAR technology and the same height estimated by the forest inventory, the coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.8826. The results indicate that the method has adequate precision for the identification of individuals and the estimation of tree height. This method could be replicated with other types of similar vegetation. |
