The analysis of this corpus, specifically of those which have more than one recurrence, allows us to see the trends in the selection of cultural content in the ELE classroom: the scarce presence of women, the majority of the personalities present are of Spanish origin, the current period is the best represented and the literary sphere, together with other artistic areas, are the most frequent thematic environments. The value of these data allows us to claim onomastic competence as an inexcusable part of an integral communicative competence.Este trabajo indaga en los antropónimos de personalidades famosas que aparecen en los materiales docentes de la enseñanza de español como lengua extranjera (ELE). A partir de un corpus de 24 manuales de diversas épocas y diferentes niveles de aprendizaje, se ha elaborado un corpus bastante extenso, con casi 1900 nombres. Su análisis, específicamente de aquellos que presentan más de una recurrencia, nos permite ver las tendencias en la selección de los contenidos culturales en la clase de ELE: la presencia escasa de mujeres, el origen español mayoritario de las figuras presentes, la época actual como la mejor representada y el ámbito literario, junto con otras áreas artísticas, como entornos temáticos más frecuentes.
