| Resumo: | The authors study a ceramic sample received from Fazenda Luar do Sertão, Chapadão dos Parecis, on the upper basin of Juruena river, MT. After a brief technical analysis, they contextualize the collection culturally and speculate about the ethnic group who produced the ware. The ceramic is classified in the Uru tradition, attributed to the native manioc cultivators of the tropical savanna of Midwestern Brazil. One of these populations, whose name identifies the region, is the Pareci, of the Arawak linguistic stock. The little ceramic sample may turn out to be useful as testimony to the occupation of a great insufficiently known space of Mato Grosso. |
