The concept of anthropophagy, developed in the Andrade’s writings, emerges as a tool through which is possible to think about our history and our reality, problematizing the relations between center and periphery. Considering the context of seeking for a national identity in which these works were written and the possibility of dialogue with other authors of our historiography, I try to understand the writer's texts and the concept of anthropophagy.Este artigo aborda o Manifesto Antropófago (1928) e o livro de ensaios A Utopia antropofágica (1990), produzidos pelo escritor brasileiro, Oswald de Andrade. O trabalho propõe uma leitura das ideias desenvolvidas pelo autor como uma possibilidade de interpretação da sociedade brasileira. O conceito de antropofagia, desenvolvido por Oswald de Andrade em seus escritos, surge como uma ferramenta através da qual é possível pensarmos nossa história e nossa realidade, problematizando as relações entre centro e periferia.
