Sumario:Over the years smoking has been combated through legislation, public policies, and educational actions. However, the use of electronic cigarettes is becoming increasingly popular among young people and represents a public health problem. Therefore, this text aims to describe the experience of an educational outreach action carried out in a public high school to raise awareness among teenagers about the risks associated with the use of electronic devices for smoking. The action consisted of an interactive slide presentation, followed by a quiz with a question-and-answer session, as well as the distribution of an educational pamphlet. The initiative was planned to provide a welcoming, participatory and engaging environment for students, and to stimulate critical thinking, with a focus on active learning and the exchange of information. The scientific data and reports of adverse health conditions presented in the discussions and informational materials were particularly effective in demystifying myths and correcting misperceptions. Despite the effectiveness of the campaign in informing and raising awareness, some teenagers admitted that they could continue to use e-cigarettes despite being aware of the risks, reflecting the complexity of the behavior and the influence of social and cultural pressures on them.
