Descrição
Resumo:In a world increasingly complex with multiscale relations between local, regional and global, become a challenge to interpret the centrality relations in regional contexts. From this perspective, the challenge of this article is to interpret Uruguaiana as a medium/intermediate-sized city and its insertion and relations in COREDE Fronteira Oeste - Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Different attributes are identified for the region and municipality, such as its intrinsic relationship with the agribusiness production chain, its geographical position as a border region and its context of socio-historical spatial production. The methodological tools articulate literature review, statistical data analysis and fieldwork. As a results are a "portrait" of the city in the context of the COREDE and confirmation of its status as a medium-sized city.
