Sumario:This article emphasizes the importance of sexual education in Brazil, where child sexual abuse is a serious problem, with approximately 66 thousand cases registered in 2019, but the lack of reports is an issue. It is of utmost importance to promote sexual education to raise awareness among children from an early age about consent and prevention. Law No. 12,015/2009 categorizes abuse of vulnerable individuals as a crime, ensuring the protection of those under 14 years of age. Sexual education in schools plays a crucial role in prevention, providing knowledge and promoting reflection on sexual health and relationships. Trained professionals have a fundamental role in identifying cases of abuse and supporting victims. The effective implementation of sexual education faces challenges of cultural and political nature, yet it is essential for a more inclusive and aware society. Combating child abuse is not limited to legal punishment alone but also to strengthening through education.
