Resumo:In this research we problematize 'what are the self-care practices performed by transvestites and transsexual women, in the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), in the municipalities of Curitiba and Ponta Grossa, Paraná?'. To answer the central question, we used the semi-structured interview data collection technique and interviewed 20 people who identify themselves as transvestites and transsexual women, in the municipalities of Curitiba and Ponta Grossa, Paraná. These interviews took place based on the statistical technique of Snowball sampling (GOODMAN, 1961) and were analyzed based on the discourse analysis technique (BARDIN, [1977] 2016). Based on the Queer literature and the reflections of the Geographies of Sexualities, we understand that condom use and examinations are self-care practices that make up the relationship between health and disease of transvestite bodies and transsexual women. Although in some cases there was HIV/AIDS infection and other STIs, it was found that among the group of transvestites and transsexual women interviewed, the practice of condom use combined with PrEP, constitute as the practices of self-care in the prevention of STIs.
