Resumo:Exploratory descriptive study with a quantitative approach, which aimed to investigate the role of the nursing team in patient safety, in the use of medication in pediatric intensive care units. The research participants were 17 members ofthe nursing team from the Pediatric Intensive Care Units of a Large Pediatric Hospital in Curitiba. Data collection was carried out using a closed questionnaire, which was built on the Google Forms tool. Data was analyzed using descriptivestatistics. It was possible to conclude that the nursing team has solid knowledge regarding international patient safety goals and the conduct to prevent adverse events and to promote patient safety. However, when approached in relationto concepts related and to taxonomy for patient safety, they still present some knowledge gaps.
