Regarding the methodological aspects, this is a case study with a qualitative research, in which data was gathered in field by means of questionnaires administered to administrators and scholars of the field. The results showed that the Projeto Orla, which was developed for this area, was not fully effective and needs revision. In this way, it is necessary that city authorities develop effective policies that are in the planning for the coastal area of the region in order to minimize existing impacts in the locality. The aforementioned plan needs revision in order to guarantee a really sustainable environment for the community.

Diante disso, este artigo tem por objetivo principal analisar a plena efetivação do Projeto Orla do município de Icapuí-CE. Com relação aos aspectos metodológicos, trata-se de um estudo de caso com uma abordagem qualitativa, no qual os dados foram coletados em campo a partir de questionários aplicados juntamente a gestores e estudiosos da temática. Os resultados revelaram que o Projeto Orla desenvolvido para a área não se efetivou plenamente e carece de uma revisão.
