Resumo:The Santa Montanha’s Sanctuary was created from narratives about Saint Mary’s apparitions, based on reports of three children from a small village located on the countryside of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. These reports started a process of creating of a symbolic world, where many elements have emerged and were aggregated continuously. This religious world was built by the people who lived in the surroundings of the village. They left their homes and formed a new community, creating a world/cosmos ruled directly by Saint Mary and Baby Jesus themselves. The history of the Sanctuary is related to important events in the nineties sixties, like the Second Vatican Council and the Brazilian military dictatorship.
