Resumo:This essay explores the origns of the Latin American protestant theology of the 20th century, from the beginnings, i.e., the evangelical congress of Buenos Ares (1949), to the decade of 1970, the same époque of the explosion of the so-called "liberation theology". It analyses the characteristics of this theology and the mark of missionary movements. Finally, exposes the developments in face of ecumenical dialogue.
