Descrição
Resumo:In this paper we aim to analyse literary critical texts written by Graciliano Ramos between 1937 and 1939 and compilated in the book Linhas tortas (1962). In these articles, the author reflects on the novels published by his contemporary, sometimes praising them, sometimes criticizing them. We try to make a synthesis on these judgements in order to find an aesthetic and cultural view that can unite the texts. We argue that Graciliano Ramos refuses dichotomies, very usual in his decade, between social and psychological novels, because, for him, the writer must be able to represent social problems without losing a human perspective and an introspective analysis. We conclude that the author reflects on the human condition on a broad perspective, without using easy literary devices.
