| Summary: | The present article analyzes a short story woven by João Antônio in recent times of opression in Brazil. “Paulinho Pena Torta”, from Leão-de-chácara (1975), published at the peak of the military dictatorship in Brazil, tells the story of a boy, a little rascal that gradually becomes a full bandit. It is possible to observe the annihilation of the society for the action of a totalitarian government and for a chaotic modernity that collaborates for the growth of social unequalities and moulds the personality of characters who live alongside the society. |
