| Sumario: | In 1950, Leonard Cohen found in a bookstore the translated poems by Federico García Lorca. Years later, he stated that he wanted to respond to those poems, as if it was a kind of call that needed a response. Thus, one can read Cohen’s oeuvre as an attempt to respond to the Lorquian poetry, to emulate it from a common imaginary. Considering this, this paper aims, at first, to identify the presence of the topoiof Lorca’s poetry in the work of Leonard Cohen; then, to analyze the poems “Gacela del mercado matutino”, by Lorca, and “Beneath my hands”, by Cohen. |
