| Resumo: | This article identifies the characteristics of the funeral rituals that remain in force in the rural community of San Miguel de Vichaycocha, located in the mountains of the department of Lima. Based on an ethnographic study, the ritual process followed in funerals plus those developed after their completion has been recorded, including the Day of the Dead celebration. In this community, there are numerous funerary practices developed through complex rituals in which members of local society participate that combine pre-Hispanic and Christian elements, seeking to integrate ancestral myths with the significance of the memory of the ancestors. For the development of this research, we base ourselves on the theoretical and methodological proposals of ritual anthropology and death. |
