Sumario:The Food Acquisition Program (PAA) is an important public policy aimed at family agriculture, which has proved to be an alternative for the commercialization of parts of the foodstuffs of farmers that were found in the sale of their products, one of the major bottlenecks in the production process. This article aims to show how the program originated, as well as its specificities and the dynamics of the application of resources allocated at the national level. The methodological procedures used were a bibliographical survey and consultations on the website of the National Supply Company (CONAB). The relevance of the PAA in terms of income was verified. However, it was verified the occurrence of budget cuts that resulted in socioeconomic losses to the producers.
