Descrição
Resumo:The main objective of this research was to study the quality of wood from different genetic eucalyptus materials used for charcoal production. Four Eucalyptus clones were used, at seven years old, came from commercial crops that had a 3 x 3 m spacing, located at the city of Carbonita/MG. Composed samples of all long the trunk were collected at 0,25, 0,50, 0,75 e 100% of the commercial height of the tree, for the purpose of wood and charcoal quality analysis. The study of the wood properties was done through a chemistry analysis, siringil/guaiacil relation, elementary composition, basic density, anatomical analysis, calorific value and thermogravimetric and differential thermic tests. For the charcoal quality evaluation and the gravimetric efficiency, a carbonization in laboratory furnace was done, under electrical heating with total time of 7 hours and heating middle taxes of 1,07°C.min-1.. After this, the determination of the levels of volatile materials, ash, fixed carbon, the charcoal gravimetric efficiency, condensable and non-condensable gases, and the fixed carbon efficiency were done. Although, the high calorific value and the relative density from the charcoal were determined. The experiment was installed on entirely casualised delineation, with six repetitions. The obtained data were submitted to analysis of variance and when differences were established, a Tukey test at 5% of probability was done. For the correlation study the Pearson correlation coefficient was used at 5, 10 and 15% of probability. The experimental results showed that the vegetal charcoal obtained from the evaluated clones presented a gravimetric efficiency and quality satisfactory; woods with low relation S/G promote increases on the vegetal charcoal efficiency, the different wood clones behavior showed quite similar in relation to the mass loss, on a thin temperature band; the clone number seven had a different perform because it present a higher resistance to the thermal degradation plus the higher vegetal charcoal efficiency.
