Resumo:The textbook is the main resource used in public schools and its critical reading contributes to a more efficient use, especially in the case of contents covered throughout the three grades of high school, such as “Organic Decomposition” (OD). In this research, we analyzed six collections of Biology for High School, seeking to characterize the approach to the content in different grades, its contextualization, depth, articulation with other subjects and its valorization in Applied Biology. In general, OD is presented satisfactorily and at different times, in all books. We observed some interdisciplinarity in Biology, especially with Chemistry, and an emphasis applied to Biotechnology, Conservation Ecology and Forensic Entomology. We conclude that OD has been addressed satisfactorily in the three grades of high school, especially in the contents Origin of Life, Population Ecology, and Biogeochemical Cycles.
