The hematological and biochemical profile may help to evaluate equidae zootechnically, including the selection of animals more tolerant to the effort. The absence of ref-erence values for brazilian conditions can hinder the interpretation of results. The physical conditioning of equine species has a direct effect on sports performance, cells and other blood components. There-fore hematological analysis should be performed in athlete animals.Therefore hematological analysis should be performed in athlete animals, to help the monitoring of training. Serum biochemistry.Objetivou-se com essa revisão de literatura discutir variações individuais, ambientais e de treinamento nos parâmetros hematológicos equídeos. Espécie, raça, idade, sexo e estádio fisiológico, fotoperíodo e época do ano, nutrição e estacionalidade na produção forrageira, exercício e treinamento podem in-terferir em variáveis sanguíneas. O perfil hematológico e bioquímico sanguíneo pode auxiliar a avaliar zootecnicamente equídeos, inclusive na seleção de animais mais tolerantes ao esforço. A ausência de valores de referência para as condições brasileiras pode dificultar a interpretação das análises. O condicionamento físico possui reflexos diretos no desempenho esportivo, nas células e outros compo-nentes do sangue de equinos. Portanto, análises sanguíneas devem ser realizadas em animais atletas, para auxiliar no monitoramento do treinamento.Palavras-chave: Equus asinus. Equus caballus. Hemograma.
