Sumario:The theme of fanaticism was very present in philosopher Immanuel Kant’s work, especially in his anthropological works, as a mental disorder. However, we hold that this subject appears in such texts in a fragmentary way, it being better conceptualized in his work about morals and religion themes. In this article we intend to explain why, based on three assumptions: (1) the fanatic subject produces several different symptomatic conditions at the same time, which it can cross several mental conditions simultaneously; (2) we affirm that, in Kant, his classification of mental pathologies follows the model of fanaticism, which, due to its structure, can be considered the main mental disorder; (3) in the Kant’s historical context, the fanaticism was observable mainly in religious and mystical contexts, therefore he reserved most of his conceptualizations on the subject precisely in his texts about religion and morals (ethics) topics.
