Descripción
Sumario:This paper stems from the sequencing of the photobookwork Notations in passing (1974), considered the visual thesis of the American photographer and curator Nathan Lyons, to discuss his comprehension of the five layers of meaning on the visual book: context, order, juxtaposition, symbols and physic characteristics. Briefly presenting the influence of Moholy-Nagy’s idea of ‘visual literation’ on Lyons’ theory, it’s discussed in what terms Lyons has practiced either photography as a trigger tool for theoretical questions or theoretical questions as a trigger tool for photography practice.
