| Resumo: | The excessive amount of information is not a 21st century phenomenon, nor is it the new creation of false news. In the midst of this context, the information society is linked, which, faced with the expressive production of fake news, contributes to the strengthening of the post-truth, resulting in disinformationin different areas and on a global scale. This research relates the theme of fake news to the information professional, elucidating their skills and ethical conduct.In this way, the authors are invited to discuss the profile of the librarian, especially as a mediator.The general objective of this study is to analyze the perception of the graduates of the Library Course of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte as to their competencies in combating the dissemination of fake news. As an instrument for collecting information, the questionnaire was used, consisting of closed and open questions. It was noticed that egresses know about false news and its consequences, seeking in certain situations to combat the use and spread of fake news. It is suggested to expand the research with other graduates, involving the themes of ethics and competence in the face of false news and its correlates: post-truth and misinformation |
