Descripción
Sumario:This article presents the results of a research work, the purpose of which was to study social representations of school teachers, mothers, graduates and community leaders about three schools buried by the collapse of Fundão Dam in the town of Mariana, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The work’s reference is the theory of Social Representations, focusing on the approach of Social Representations in Motion. The methodology was structured in two stages: collecting information about the collapse of the dam and its impacts on schools and performing narrative interviews. The results showed that respondents were experiencing three motions in their social representations about the school: returning to their previous experience, prior to the collapse, sticking to the narrative about the collapse and its impacts, and problematizing the school, articulating their previous experience, the present and the future. The conclusion was that the study made it possible for the subjects to recover their experiences in a context under which the material conditions of existence were destroyed.
