| Sumario: | Introduction. Geotourism is a tourist activity that focuses on the appreciation and interpretation of the geological heritage of a given area. The municipality of Paraúna has a rich geological and geomorphological diversity, which offers potential for the development of Geotourism. Objective. This work aims to analyze and describe the geodiversity sites and geosites of Paraúna that are suitable for the practice of Geotourism. Methodology. The tools of Geossit, a platform of the Brazilian Geological Survey (CPRM), were used. Results. The challenges faced in the development of Geotourism in Paraúna refer to the need for adequate tourism infrastructure, environmental awareness, and cooperation among the various local stakeholders, including government authorities, local communities, and tour operators. Conclusion. Several strategies to promote Geotourism in a sustainable way in Paraúna aim at the conservation of the region's natural heritage, local economic development, and improvement of the quality of life of the communities involved. |
