With the objective of analyzing the professional trajectory of the alumni from 1990 and 1994 of the Physical Education Bachelors Course at the University of Uberlândia – FAEFI/UFU and the perceptions about their academic formation. This study, of qualitative nature, was done with 67 graduates, whom answered a questionnaire of open and closed-ended questions, with the intent of delineate the profile of the researched group, and draw aspects of their formative and professional path. The closed-ended questions were analyzed by descriptive frequency, and the open-ended ones by Bardin’s Content Analysis (1977). Results have shown that the majority of the alumni are female (73%), on average from 46 e 50 years old (69%), 53% are between 21 and 25 of professional experience, 85% have post-grad certificates, 88% are looking for updates in their education, 91% are actively participating on scientific congresses and for 64% of the graduates, previous involvement with the area was the main reason to study Physical Education. The professional expectation was to work in both areas (40%), followed by informal work (33%). In regards to the initial formation and entering the job market, the majority (61%) of the alumni affirmed that the knowledge they acquired on their Bachelor’s Degree were not sufficient for their professional work life, as well as there was no influence on their work field of choice (51%). For 54% of the graduates, the curriculum of their Bachelors was not adequate to reality. Despite that, 81% work on the field and the main reason for a career drop out was health related problems (31%). Of the acting alumni on the field, 79% are currently working on the formal labor market, being the most on primary schools, 85% are teachers and the profession is their only source of income (83%). The factor that motivated the most the participants to work on their current area was the opportunity of working as government officials (recruited by tender exams, which provides job stability), this data being confirmed by 50% of the alumni. In regards to the satisfaction or not with the area, all 44% said they are satisfied and that they consider themselves professionally fulfilled. Bearing that in mind, we come to the conclusion that we need good politics in order for the initial formation assures professionals the skills they will require during their long, flexible and diverse professional trajectory. For that, the Higher Education Institutes must rethink their curricula (not only creating different models of formation or remodeling curricula), but adaptingit to the current challenges of the world, since an Undergraduate course represents the first step into a long and broad process of continued and permanent formation of the professional life.
