The data were gathered through questionnaires, which were randomly applied in public urban spaces. The questionnaires presented themes related to i) knowledge of reptiles, ii) positive and negative values about these animals and iii) persecution and preservation of these species. After the analysis, it was possible to identify the respondents 'knowledge about reptiles, how these animals can be appreciated or repudiated, the respondents perception of living with these animals and the importance of their conservation. The results show that there is still a great misconception and lack of information about reptiles, and fear prevails especially of snakes. It is clear the need of environmental education that torgets reptiles in this specific region.A etnozoologia pode ser utilizada como um importante recurso para o alcance de informações sobre répteis e demais animais. Dessa forma, para registrar os conhecimentos populares, assim como as crenças, mitos e superstições referentes aos répteis, foi desenvolvida pesquisa etnozoológica no município de Campina Grande, Estado da Paraíba. Inicialmente, para a obtenção dos dados, foram aplicados aleatoriamente, em espaços públicos, sessenta questionários contendo questões fechadas (objetivas) a respeito de temas referentes ao conhecimento dos répteis, pontos relacionados a valores positivos e negativos a respeito desses animais, bem como questões relacionadas à perseguição e preservação. Com análise dos dados, foi possível identificar o conhecimento dos entrevistados em relação aos répteis, o quanto eles podem ser apreciados ou repudiados, a percepção dos pesquisados quanto ao convívio com esses animais e a importância da preservação dos mesmos.
