Descrição
Resumo:Brazilian Protected Areas usually permit transport people along the rivers, as path to displacement oflocal people, way to communication between traditional communities, to lead tourists and to do surveillance. The rivers are true nautical trails, whose the activities are linked to the availability of ecosystem services, but can result in major environmental impacts, bigger than land trails. Thus, the goal of this study was to assess the balance between conservation and degradation of river corridors from one protected area, through the analysis of human functions, of the supply of ecosystem services and negative impacts resulting from the exploitation of available resources. In this way, we developedand applied a methodology that evaluated seven use functions, their interfaces with the ecosystem services offered by the trails and 21 impact indicators. We studied seven nautical trails in the Ecological Station Juréia-Itatins (SP). It was concluded that the use of ecosystem services provided by rivers in the form of nautical trails is overloaded, because there are overlapping functions and use frequency, which results in the natural resources degradation, especially along the riverbanks. We checked 351 impacts that prevent the compliance with the main objectives of the Ecological Station, which is to maintain regulatory and support services to Nature.
