Resumo:The Barter Operation emerged in the Brazilian agribusiness as an alternative to the scarcity of rural credit, evolving over time both in terms of its structure and its various applications in the agricultural context. Nevertheless, despite being widely used and promoted in the market, there is a scarcity of academic research on the subject. In this context, the present study aims to investigate the performance of the Barter Operation in comparison to other forms of agricultural financing (bank financing with controlled and free-rate resources and own capital). To achieve this, the statistical treatment of the historical series of productivity, prices, and costs of the National Supply Company [CONAB] was conducted from 2014 to 2023. After applying the Monte Carlo Simulation Method, the profitability and risk of different financing modalities. The results indicate that the Barter Operation has the highest potential profitability with the lowest volatility, the modality also showed the lowest coefficient of variation, reflecting lower risk, proving to be an effective strategy even in less favorable market scenarios. This research aims not only to expand academic knowledge on the subject but also to influence and support strategic decision-making for rural producers.
