Descripción
Sumario:This study aims to analyze the professional and academic choices of graduates of Mathematics Degree Courses, discussed in scientific productions published in the period from 2020 to 2023 in Brazil. Using the descriptors “Graduates in Mathematics”, “Degree in Mathematics” and “Choices of Graduates in Mathematics”, a thesis and two dissertations were chosen. In order to analyze these studies, the following categories emerged: Disenchantment with teaching while still an undergraduate; The supervised curricular internship in Mathematics; The intensification, precariousness and devaluation of teaching work; The Mathematics studied in the degree versus The Mathematics needed for Basic Education and, finally, the professional and academic choices of graduates from Mathematics Degree Courses. The results converge towards a low choice of teaching career, given the intensification and precariousness of teachers' work; unattractive salaries that don't even reach the national salary floor; a scenario of abandonment and disenchantment with the teaching career, the result of indiscipline, lack of interest and demotivation among students. In addition, emotional exhaustion, crowded classrooms and a lack of affection from the teacher trainer and even colleagues are also challenging aspects in this process.
