| Sumario: | Strongly in global cities, and especially in Brazil, the process of urban occupation in an increasingly concentrated and densified way, has been reflected in negative impacts on water and environmental resources. Floods, linked especially to the increasing of imperviousness rate of soil, denounce an important aspect of the context of urban unsustainability that planning has failed to reverse. This paper aims to contribute to the discussion of a new theoretical-methodological approach to addressing urban issues, inspired by Henri Lefebvre. Seeking to reflect about the contradictions, dichotomies and tensions between dialectical opposites identifiable in the dynamics of cities, the present text also suggests alternatives on methodologies, on the adoption of the watershed as a unit integrated planning and management and on the use of new indicators of sustainable urban occupation, able to show new ways of overcoming the contemporary urban planning. |
