| Sumario: | The coastal region contains ecosystems that are important economically, socially and environmentally. With urban growth and disorderly occupation, the increasing degradation of these ecosystems has been registered, causing impacts on the landscape and coastline. Aiming to identify the factors that act on the vulnerability of the beaches of the beaches of the sustainable use unit of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) Costa Brava, two methodologies were applied where, in the first, fifty-four variables that comprised the sedimentary geomorphological indices of marine incidence of wind incidence were analyzed; characteristics of vegetation cover and pressure for anthropogenic use. In the second methodology, seven variables were evaluated: vegetation height, types of barriers, types of beach, erosive and progressive coastline, relative rise in average sea level; wave breaking height and relative variation of the tide. In the first methodology, the beaches of Estaleiro norte, Pinho and Taquarinhas, fell into the category of low to intermediate vulnerability (Class II – 0.3 < IV < 0.45), and the beaches of Estaleirinho, Estaleiro sul, Taquaras and Laranjeiras, in the category of intermediate to high vulnerability (Class III – 0.45 < IV< 0.60). By the second methodology it was possible to classify the beaches of Taquarinhas, Estaleirinho and Laranjeiras in low vulnerability; Taquaras, Pinho and Estaleiro in medium vulnerability. The beaches showed signs of degradation by natural forces that act intensely in the region, consequently the anthropic action was shown to increase the vulnerability of the beaches present on the coast. |
