Resumo:The agricultural modernization has influenced and modified the inter-sectoral and productives urban-rural settings. This study seeks to understand how these changes have on the family farm and how the search for non-farm income occurred in the micro-Fourth Colony, located in the center of Rio Grande do Sul State. Using an exploratory qualitative method through site visit site and interviews with participants and staff working in the Regional Development Council - CONDESUS observed that the region is in a pluriactivity means of strengthening the local agricultural industries and expand alternative livelihood for farmers. There were some difficulties in continuing the projects already implemented due to legal problems of small agro-industries and for reasons of health guidelines are produced and marketed.
