Resumo:Reception practices can represent important strategies to prevent evasion in higher education. This article presents the results of a research pool with students from a federal university that aimed at knowing the perception of them about activities of reception and identifying factors considered favorable and unfavorable to the university environment, such as information considered relevant to the environment, the ways of acessing them and the main actors involved in this process. Participating in the study were 718 students - not identified - from various undergraduate courses by means of an online questionnaire. The results indicate the protagonism of the students themselves in the reception process and a significant proportion of students without access to the reception activities. From the students' perception, the institutional role in the reception of incoming students and possible strategies for their improvement are also discussed.
