| Sumario: | Cacique Pequena is the first indigenous woman to be elevated to the position of Cacique in the State of Ceará, and the first known in Brazil, although it is not possible to affirm this fact for sure. Her importance among her people, the Jenipapo-Kanindé people, is undeniable, as is the influence exerted by her on the entire Indigenous Movement, from the moment it began the struggle to defend her land, today recognized as an Indigenous Land, which is called Lagoa da Encantada. In this indigenous land, her struggle built a school, health clinic, a small inn, museum, flour mill, always focusing on improving the living conditions of her people and maintaining their culture and customs. As her daughter, stimulated by her struggle, I started the studies that culminated in this work, which aims to make a record, so that future generations can know the story of this woman who has always been a source of inspiration for all the women with whom coexist |
