Through documentary, journalistic analysis, and interviews, the organization of this political coalition at that time and the circumstances of the resistance attempt are highlighted. The article also addresses social representations of memory of this attempt and the possibility of guerrilla formation in a rural locality of Baixada Fluminense, subjected to intense repression post-coup. Through this analysis, the article questions the assumption of broad popular support for the coup and concludes that this attempt at armed resistance depended on President João Goulart's reaction to the coup movement.O artigo analisa uma tentativa abortada de resistência armada ao golpe de 1964, envolvendo um bloco político composto por associações de camponeses e sindicatos, especialmente petroleiros, na Baixada Fluminense. Através de análises documentais, jornalísticas e entrevistas, é destacada a organização desse bloco político naquela conjuntura e as circunstâncias da tentativa de resistência. O artigo também aborda representações sociais da memória dessa tentativa e de uma possibilidade de formação de guerrilha em uma localidade rural da Baixada Fluminense, alvo de intensa repressão após o golpe.
