Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this work was to analyze gas emissions from a truck exhaust system during the transportation of sugarcane from producing sources to a particular mill. Alternative scenarios for the freight handling were investigated considering a system performance variable, transportation time, and gas emissions produced. The method applied was the discrete event simulation, which computational model was built using a free and open source software called Ururau. Results showed that the decision concerning the choice of vehicles in specific situations can reduce gas emissions generated by the fleet. Hence, it was demonstrated the possibility to reduce these emissions just introducing changes in operational proceedings, without investing in new technologies.
