| Sumario: | The purpose of this article is to critically analyze the evolution of the representation of people with dwarfism from the collection of fairy tales made by the Brothers Grimm between the years of 1812 and 1815 to the contemporary cinematographic adaptations of the tale Snow White, showing to what extent the characters of these works resemble magical beings called ‘dwarfs’ or real people with dwarfism. Considering the importance of these works for the establishment of the “dwarf” image in the popular imagination, the purpose is to show how the characteristics attributed to them resulted in a stereotype full of prejudices that affects people with dwarfism to the present day. |
