Descripción
Sumario:This article presents the extension experience of the Interdisciplinary Group in Culture, Society & Environment in the construction of social maps drawn by indigenous communities as an initial action in the preparation of the Potiguara Territorial and Environmental Management Plan. In this article, we highlight the experience of social mapping in the Laranjeira village, Potiguara Indigenous Land, located on the Coast (North), Northern part of the State of Paraíba. We highlight the power of social mapping in explaining socio-environmental conflicts, the demands of communities for public policies and fundamentally as a methodology for raising awareness, mobilization, diagnosis and propositions for the PGTA from the indigenous perspective, constituting a valuable instrument for empowering the territory and identity.
