| Resumo: | In this article, the author revisits and analyzes the importance of the election in Haiti between 1986 and 2006, a period characterized by concurrent political crisis. During these years, there were many calls for elections, but unfortunately they were never successful to consolidate democracy. In fact, Haiti continues debating between democratic and authoritarian forms of government today. The central argument of this work believes that the precariousness of the institutions and profound polarization in society are factors that dissuade democratization in Haiti. |
