| Resumo: | This project dives into the evolution and significance of warehouse management systems, focusing on the implementation of the industry leading platform Blue Yonder at Artico Cold Storage, a logistics company based in the Chicagoland. The report will begin with a comprehensive exploration of the historical evolution of warehousing from ancient civilizations, through the Industrial Revolution to today’s warehousing landscape. It will then investigate essential warehousing processes such as receiving, putaway, picking, packing and loading/dispatching. Then the project will explore management software in detail, delving into management systems’ evolution, contemporary innovations and procedures for adopting new technologies. Artico Cold Storage serves as a case study; this report provides insight into its history, values and comprehensive warehousing services including logistics and import/export operations. The implementation of Blue Yonder at Artico is detailed, exploring the motivations behind transitioning from traditional system to Blue Yonder’s advanced capabilities. Key features like Directed Putaway are examined in depth, showcasing the practical benefits and operational enhancements achieved through this implementation. Overall, this project highlights the impact of advanced warehouse management systems like Blue Yonder in optimizing warehouse operations and enhancing supply chain efficiency, thereby contributing to organizational growth and competitiveness in the global marketplace. |
