On the other hand, one can also analyze both their relationship with workers' organizations and the clashes between anti-clerics and the Catholic Church in the First Republic.Neste artigo discute-se como se expressou o anticlericalismo no jornal O Livre Pensador, publicado em São Paulo, a partir de 1903, e sua relação com a Maçonaria. Nas páginas do jornal pode-se identificar as particularidades do anticlericalismo em âmbito nacional e internacional e sua relação com outras manifestações ideológicas, como o socialismo e o positivismo.
