| Resumo: | Getting married in the diaspora raises many interesting facts, including the ceremonies and parties. Empirical observations carried out in the cities of Lajeado, Estrela and Encantado, in the Vale do Taquari region, in Rio Grande do Sul, showed the practice of marriage among Haitian migrants settled there. The objective of the article is to describe the marriages of Haitian migrants, as well as religious ceremonies and wedding parties, and report their peculiarities. It has been demonstrated that these are common social practices that demonstrate social cohesion and affirm the group's identity. It was possible to establish three dimensions regarding this social practice: political, family and religious. The reflections are the result of ethnographic research, carried out between 2017 and 2020, combined with documentary and bibliographical research with a qualitative approach. |
