| Summary: | This paper dealswith the fern flora of Mata do Estado, in the municipality of São Vicente Férrer, located in Zona da Mata Norte in the state of Pernambuco. This is a well-preserved area of approximately 600 ha at 600-650 m of altitude, originally occupied by humid forest with upland forest elements (Dense Broadleaf Submontane Forest). This article presents the taxonomic treatment of Cyatheaceae and Dennstaedtiaceae families in this area. Taxonomic keys are given for the identification of genera and species, as well as illustrations, descriptions of species, and comments on all the taxa. Cyatheaceae is represented in the area by Alsophila sternbergii (Sternb.) Conant, Cyathea abreviata Fernandes, C. microdonta (Desv.) Domin, C. phalerata Mart., and C. pungens (Willd.) Domin; Dennstaedtiaceae is represented by Hypolepis repens (L.) C. Presl, Lindsaea lancea (L.) Bedd. var. lancea, Pteridium arachnoideum (Kaulf.) Maxon, and Saccoloma elegans Kaulf. |
