Summary:The study aimed to map technological information contained in patent documents related to the use of the Montrichardia linifera (Arruda) Schott, popularly known as “aninga”, in the production of drugs, larvicides and repellents. Technological prospecting was carried out using prior search techniques in patent applications filed with the National Institute of Intellectual Property from Brazil and the European Patent Office (ESPACENET), technological mapping and scenario analysis through the SWOT matrix. Although the plant prospected is of important medicinal and phytosanitary interest, there was no record of technologies that use species of the genus Montrichardia in compost or material for drugs, larvicides and repellents, with the exception of those owned by the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG). The biochemical characteristics of aninga, as its versatility of use as a medicine and defensive, technological fields in constant rise, give competitiveness to the technologies developed by MPEG with this plant species.
