| Resumo: | This paper analyses the demographic crisis that started in Vila Rica during the 1760's, worsened along the following decades and became dramatic in the years preceding the Inconfiddncia. In this context, the crisis - that developed in the aftermath of the decline of gold mining in the region - is identified as one of the elements conditioning the shaping of a background marked by the dissemination of poverty, in which will emerge the moviment that would be called ConjuragSo Mineira. The study is based on travel reports, on the views of historians and specially on primary sources, the registers of marriages, births and deaths of Pardquia de Nossa Senhora da ConceigSo de Antdnio Dias, one of the two parishes in Vila Rica during the period of time studied (1740-1800). |
