Summary:This article portrays perspectives of the administrative and political analyzes contained in the works of the Lisbon philosopher Silvestre Pinheiro Ferreira (1769-1846) written in the Johannine period (1808-1821). A contemporary of the intellectuals and politicians who witnessed the effects of the American Revolution of Independence (1776) and the French Revolution (1789), the author participated in discussions concerning the theories of political representation that organized the institutional structure of modern constitutional states. The analyzed works are from different period of the regency (1799-1815) and the reign (1816-1821) of D. João VI in Brazil: Political Memories about General Abuses and Way to reform and Prevent the Popular Revolution Drafted by Order of the Prince Regent in Rio de Janeiro in 1814 and 1815 and Letters on the Revolution in Brazil (1820-1821).
