| Resumo: | This article addresses the issue of the correct disposal of medication and socio-environmental awareness, it is related to the excess and consumption of medicines in Brazil. The objective of the research was to analyze the socio-environmental impacts arising from the incorrect disposal of medicines. As research methods, we used the literature review, with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out in the Lilacs, Scielo and Bireme database from 2010 to 2020. The results we obtained were that in Brazil, there is an increasing debate about the destination of medicines that are no longer used by the community, because the Garbage and sewage disposal is a serious pollution of the environment and public health. We conclude that the correct disposal of medicines is essential for the balance of the environment and to preserve the health of the population. |
