Resumo:University dropout in Brazil has affected public and private University Education Institutions (UEIs), especially after the reduction of student finance (FIES), from 2015. Dropout generates loss of intellectual, financial and social potential for those who drop out of graduation. In private UEIs, the financial impact of high dropout ends up resulting in reduced resources and investments. This study sought to develop an analysis of the variables of Education and Financial Planning that reflect on the financial situation of students at a private UEI located in Rio de Janeiro State. Data collection took place through a survey sent to a representative sample of the population in 2020. After processing the data, the relationship between the variables was observed in order to test the hypotheses proposed in the research. Determining factors were identified for the level of Financial Education and Financial Planning, and their relationship with the Financial Situation of the researched university students.
