| Summary: | Over the years, the Baroque Poetics of Gregório de Matos has inspired various studies on diverse themes found in his work, such as passions, quarrels, parties, unruliness, impunity, hypocrisy, among others. In this article, we aim to present an account of this thematic agenda, focusing on Gregório de Matos’ Baroque Satire, which inspires anthropophagic laughter. To this end, our work maps a Baroque timeline, from its inception to the present, aiming to better situate the poet in the world of the modern-baroque, and culminates in an analysis of poems that exemplify Gregório de Matos’ unruly baroque. This analysis relies on the theoretical framework in studies by Haroldo de Campos, Oswald de Andrade, Affonso Ávila, and Omar Calabrese, among others. |
